The hell with cola !!! Social Security payments need to be raised over poverty level. The minimum monthly payments should be at least $1300.
Ues it would 1300.00 every month
@Olga Gill elections
@Barbara McLean I live in Vegas and California investors are buying up everything houses and apartment complexes and are raising the rent. There’s no affordable housing left here.
Ain’t it funny how a 3.0 in March jumped 17 points to 4.7 in April another 9 points in May to 5.6 another 5 points in June 6.1 another 5 points more, but for July, it dropped to 6.0, August 5.8 and September 5.9, for a Cola average of 5.9 but for October it rises to 6.9 and it does not count towards SS Cola, sounds kind of fishy to me, Like they are manipulating the numbers to me
Yes, many folks live on less than 12000 dollars a year. Absolutely a good healthy raise is needed.
@Lean Bean,
Please share your source that most people on ssi has never hit a lick, what %is most ?
@Phil Worley ,Exactly
@Rebecca Selvage I live on less than 10,000 and SSI give me some or my retirement fund would be less than that.
Big deal, it all goes to big pharmaceutical companies. Of all the SS increases I’ve received have gone to big pharmaceutical companies.
Seniors are always left behind. They need to adjust the Social security. People work all their life’s and pay into this. Don’t make the Seniors suffer!
@Andy Medrano Jr Are you kidding me? I guess you’re American, because we value our seniors. Dishonor them, you dishonor yourself.
@Exquisite Caribbean Queen you need medical help, too much left side ambition. You have no idea what’s going on, but only your self that’s not a true American.
@Andy Medrano Jr Totally unintelligent and quite a dumb statement to frank with you. I lived in America long enough to know, besides I was responding to one statement, now like so many you responded like an unread, un researched individual. I really have no time and energy for this. I am out. Peace
@Exquisite Caribbean Queen yep judgemental, ignorant, and doesn’t know the difference. I’m sorry you feel this way there’s no other way to explain it to you or you can explain it back. I probably lived longer than you in America than you ever been here
@Exquisite Caribbean Queen thats the smartest thing you did.
They need to give us the raise we suffer every month not enough of food not enough to buy the supplies that we need and the gas prices are. Going up to fast
An don’t forget auto insurance you half to pay
The way things are going with the cost of gas and food and everything else still going up. The elder and the VA and SSDI and SSI and social security can’t afford the high cost of everything going up.
People on these benefits need a raise in their monthly checks. With this inflation on food, gas, utilities, and other things an increase is beneficial for all who need it. Everything is so expensive. Please help the Seniors. Blessings.
If you are responsible and are on VA and SSDI, you can survive just fine. That means living within your means. With what’s going on at the moment, banks aren’t loaning money for a mortgage, but lots of people live just fine on it across the country. You just can’t live in a big house, drive a new car or truck and have to stay away from liberal areas.
@Wandy Miranda Hello Wandy how are you doing ?
@CPT E B Hammonds i
@CPT E B Hammonds I don’t know where in America you live but I have an older sister on SSDI and she cannot live properly on that … maybe on the VA thing AND THAT …. ?
but I don’t know .
You must live someplace where the rents are unusually cheap to-the-point people would say they are dirt cheap or you’re living with family and they are not charging you rent .
No one on Social security should live in poverty like I do. I can’t survive on SSDI. It’s is terrible, unjust and unfair.
@Stephanie Fritsch yes I understand what you’re saying but you still haven’t told me what the procedure is
@gardensofthegods please don’t as a transgender woman her surgical status. Ok
@Stephanie Fritsch not sure I understand what this question or comment is … what I’m asking about surgery has nothing to do with gender
@gardensofthegods it’s my Gender Affirming Surgical procedure.
a system that wont be there for me glad I can help you though, damn boomer.
Maybe if we stop giving Congresspersons and Senator raises every year, we can afford to give SSd and SSI recipients proper money to live and survive.
They have a raise in the package they are pushing. What they do I throw out stimulus to us and in the same bill the upped their salary, I read it.
You hit the nail on the head!!!
You are so so so right!!!!!.They Congresspersons and Senators we pay their salary and I truly belief that they have better health care way better than ours!!!! PS due to inflation we are going to receive more money but the way the prices have gone up is probably going to right back to the economy. The majority who receive benefits because we work or receive SSI or Veterans these congressional people don’t realized that when we receive our checks basically after we pay our bills we have little money left to buy our food and medication plus we are going to get tax on what is given to us.
I agree they income goes on regardless
@Donna ann Worrilow,
God needs to get started and quickly..
Besides Social Security, I would like to know how much Medicare will increase. When this increases our Social Security increase will be lower.
IT INCREASES MORE, HEALTH COSTS INCREASE, ‘EVERYTHING’, EXCEPT OUR INCOME, INCREASES, WAY OUT OF PROPORTION..CONGRESS AND THE ONES IN D.C., WITH THEIR GREEDY, CORRUPT SELVES, KNOW THIS..THEY ARE ALL IN COLLUSION WITH THIS CRAP, BECAUSE THEY THINK EVERYBODY IN THE GENERAL PUBLIC, EXCEPT THEM, IS STUPID..THERE IS ONE CONGRESSMAN THAT WENT ON PUBLIC RECORD, SAYING HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT AN ISLAND ‘TIPPING UPSIDE-DOWN! NOW WHO’S STUPID? HOW IN HELL DID HE GET IN OFFICE? I DAMN SURE DIDN’T VOTE FOR HIM, LOL!
Enjoyed your explanations! Lets hope for a good increase for seniors. Thank you!
Hi Elizabeth, How are you doing?
Need to start with Medicare! Every raise we get (which isn’t much), Medicare takes most of it!
So true and damn sad it’s totally true .
The landlord’s take it to.
@nomad yesmad explain? not sure your point.
@don welch My rent is going up $40 in January. They do it every year and is more than the COLA.
@nomad yesmad when i was 19 years old my (extremely wealthy) uncle pulled in the driveway and called me out to his car. we went for a drive in the north end of flint,mi. don, he said, forget about social security. it won’t pay for your retirement”. build your own fortune separate from that ponzi scheme. figure out a way”. i never forgot that and it wasn’t until i was around 50 that it was clear to me how right he was. good hunting my friend.
Social security needs to be increased as food utilities, , gasoline , clothing prices are going through the roof.
@Hell-Raiser
Due to fraud🙄
@Grazia Armanno
Wages haven’t gone up in a decade… while, yearly, inflation has.
@Hell-Raiser stolen
They gave extra in food stamps for several months. At the same time the rent moritorium thing, now the extra stamp are gone at the same time the increase price at the grocery store begins. Really bad planning. I think the extra was to calm down the masses while they pushed agenda nobody could agree on.
@Barbara McLean Hello Barbara !! You sound good
“Sizable?” I hope they don’t think 3% is “sizable.”
No it’s not as a SS person
Its at 9.1 % mow
July index was 5.6% Aug was 5.5% we have to wait to see Sept. then average the 3 months. ALSO, Social Security was never meant to be your total retirement income. You are responsible if you didn’t plan for ANYTHING extra. Try to develop a brain cell and think!
Actually its higher than normal. It is not their fault it does not keep up with costs of living. And that starts next year right??
Oh wow! I might get $60 more a month while I’m already spending $100 more just for food and that’s climbing every month!
We need the 1980 increase of 14.3% to at least 16% increase
The highest prediction I’ve seen is 5%.
I recently saw 6.2% as a possibility
Seniors shouldn’t have to pay any form of taxes!
I work cause SS isn’t enough snd I pay taxes, not right
Thank Joe Biden for that if you don’t believe me Google what he did in 1983
@ted SPHINX MYSTERY Badami appeal your property tax appraisal.
I’ve never had a cost of living increase. Each time they issue one, they take it away from another benefit. If SSI issues a $10 increase, DHR takes $10 in benefits away. Therefore, I never actually get any cost of living increase.
That’s because Supplemental Security Income is federal welfare, plain and simple. Welfare has a cap on it
@Robert Scherer Call it what you will. All I know that you can’t collect SS unless you’ve worked and paid in to it.. say 35 years and disability eats up all your IRA and no SS or SSI until you’re broke and unable to work anymore. Did I mention the years of medical denial it took to get there? Everyone will get old, just keep on living. And yes, I’m white.
When the social security administration only gives a $20 increase,it doesn’t go very far.The increase should be at least $100 regardless what the CPI index is.Too many seniors depend on social security to survive,they are too old or too sick to keep on working.Most seniors would love to keep on working than to depend on social security.
he who not votes do not speak up to there congress i have no respect for
The most unfair thing about SS Is it is based on 3months, should be figured on 12 months. Last yr. Cola. Was 5.4% for 12months, But COLA was just 1.3% based on 3rd quarter only. Need to catch up to 21st century.
A $2000 raise in our social security checks would be the right thing to do. Not peanuts.
Finally…someone who knows facts and let’s us know what’s going on..thank you so much!
they are raising the Medicare part 21 dollars a month
@ldjman
Damn…I just heard that….we cant get ahead!!!!!
I don’t believe there will be social security pretty soon now don’t be alarmed we are going to get large amounts of money that was stolen from our parents and our grandparents going back to the Great depression it’s a new type of money system that has been worked on for several years by the military and the former president go look up the channel g u n NAC where they describe it it’s sort of a fake channel but I’m sure you can find the original speaker somewhere this guy talks about this new financial system it will work really great at first but because Satan controls this world it will eventually lead to the mark of the beast but not right away.
@Helen Pierce-Lamoureux I don’t know where you get 6.2%, I saw 5.9% is what we’ll get.
@Carol Benson they give a little and then they take away someplace else . Our family of 2 live in 1200 a month and get snap benefits u get a raise on SS and they cut your food stamps back wow a whole 77 dollars buys u a whole lot of food. We will never live like a human being. it’s disgraceful
